The focus of this professional training is on guiding wilderness quests, and rite of passage ceremonies.  Rite of passage, or sometimes called, initiation ceremonies are needed now more than ever.  To be able identify the need for these experiences in people and create safe, meaningful and effective programs are essential skills that all educators and outdoor leaders should have. The overall goal with this course is to teach you the skills and increase your confidence to identify and conduct appropriate rite of passages and quest experiences for people that range from one hour to several days long.

This program is very comprehensive.  Over the course of the training you will learn:

  • The theoretical and historical aspects of these ceremonies that extend back into many different cultures and traditions.
  • The safety and logistical aspects of facilitation.
  • The ceremonial and process skills required for effective guiding.
  • Guide assistantship on a EBI Wilderness Quest to get hands on experience and supportive mentoring.

**Trainees must have participated a guided wilderness quest or vision fast ceremony, and soloed for at least three days.

This program is created on an as needed basis.
